Use of power- This is where the trainer or the owner of the pet has power to command the dog. For instance, the owner must be standing while talking to the dog. By doing this the pet will know it is a command and must respond to it accordingly. The trainer can group dogs and instruct them to do what he is doing. The dog is trained to respect their trainer and know that the trainer has power over them.

Good Reinforcement- This method is mostly used by different pet trainers. It is based on a straight forward theory. It involves rewarding a pet after following a good behaviour. When the animal repeats negative deeds, there will be no reward. For instance, a pet is being punished by taking the reward from it. Regular training of a pet positive behaviour with a reward will make the pet associate the good deeds with a reward.

Scientific teaching- It is difficult to identify a pet that has been trained using technical teaching. This is because scientifically the information is dynamic hence it cannot be relied when teaching a pet. This method aims to understands the nature of dogs, efficiency of using various rewards and the ability of dogs to be conditioned.

Clicker Equipping- This is the same as positive reinforcements since they relied on the same belief. It involves the use of device that can generate noise that will be a signal of something to the pet. For instance, the owner can ring a bell or whistle which means that it's time for lunch. Most trainers take advantage of this method to install the new behaviours using verbal signs and sound.

Electronic Method-This technique makes use of an electric collar tied around the neck or other part of the pet that delivers and electric shock when undesired behavior is depicted. The collar is remotely operated as the trainer monitors the dog. The method relies on punishment as a way of rectifying behavior but does not instruct the pet what and how to do right.

Mirror Teaching- This method relies on what the pet observes and see physically. The owner or a trainer acts as a model. The trainer uses the natural mimic behaviour of a dog to operate with them socially. For instance, when the dog observes the trainer eating and taking the dishes to the kitchen for a long time, the dog will do the same.

Numerous methods are available when it comes to training pets and it lies with the trainer to choose the one that suite the circumstance. It is generally good to select a method that wills immediate desirable change with less negative effects on the pet. It is therefore reasonable to do a great deal of research before embarking on one.
