Benefits Investing In Labradoodle Puppies

By Linda Kennedy

Labradoodle is a cross breed dog of a Labrador retriever and a poodle. The beauty of breeding the two is they produce puppies that have a good temperament and are trainable like the Labrador and have a coat that does not shed much like the poodle. This in turn produces Labradoodle Puppies that are hypoallergenic with a gentle nature.

Over the years the Labrapoodle has become very popular not only for its hypoallergenic nature but and gentleness but also for the quirky way it looks, sort of like a small bear. When acquiring one, it is essential you select a breeder who has years of experience, has a good reputation and more importantly certified as required by the law. It will be an added advantage if the breeder is registered with dog and breeder associations.

Since Labradors and poodles come in different kinds, it is no surprise that they produce pups of different variety too. Labrapoodles, a fond name of the Labradoodle, come in different shapes, colors and sizes. Their gene structure also comes into play depending on how they were bred. The genuine Labrapoodle is a crossbreed of the Labrador and poodle as mentioned earlier while a multi-generational Labrapoodle is a breed between two Labrapoodles.

Labrapoodles are mainly kept for people who have special needs not only physical but mental too. One of its most special benefits is that it has a hypoallergenic coat is best suited for people with asthma or allergic to animal fur. Like the poodle, the Labrapoodle almost never sheds it fur.

When animals with genetic disease are crossbred, the diseases are more likely to transfer to their puppies. It is therefore important to request for the records to the parents you wish to adopt from to ascertain there are not any issues either physically or health wise. This is the reason why the genuine breeds are preferable compared to the multigenerational Labrapoodles. When the parents are a Labrador and a poodle and records show they are in good health, it is certain. On the other hand if you breed two healthy Labrapoodles, they may develop genetic health problems in their puppies due to inbreeding.

The different coats are attributed to both. The Labrapoodle has three kinds of coats. Fleece, which is a good mix of the Labrador coat with kinks and waves from the poodle, the hair coat is more like the Labrador coat while the wool is more of the poodle. So technically you are able to pick a very particular puppy based on your favorite color, size and fur that suits you.

Their coats also vary quite exponentially and are divided into three categories. The first is the wool coat which has tight curls that are very soft. Second is hair which is quite similar to a Labradors coat. Last is the fleece which soft and lavish with a wavy look.

The puppies are not only kept as family pets. With the proper training, Labrapoodles are also kept for various reasons mostly health related. For those who are allergic to fur or are asthmatic, the Labrapoodle pup is the best to have. They are also trained to be guide dogs for the blind and used as companions or therapy dogs for those who suffer mental illnesses such as depression.
