What You May Not Know About Blue French Bulldog Puppies

By Edward Williams

What is it that makes these puppies different? They have a bluish hue to their skin thanks to their genetics. Otherwise, their appearance is similar to that of other bulldogs. There are people who believe that the color of the skin is due to a condition called alopecia. Breeders associations do not recognize the breed and so it is not allowed to take part in shows. Blue French Bulldog Puppies are still in demand, however, because they make excellent pets.

When it comes to temperament, dogs of this breed do not make good watchdogs. Despite their masculine build, they are needy, breathe loudly, have a few strange habits and get sick more often than some other dogs. They are also small, love to be at home, and very affectionate making them the best of companions. The cuteness of the breed means they draw plenty of attention.

The breed often has severe allergies and other health problems. As they are particularly prone to skin allergies, they may often have puffy eyes, rashes and more which may require a visit to the vet. Their diet also has to be carefully considered or they may have a reaction to what they eat. A low ingredient, organic diet is often best. They also often have neck and back issues because of their build. They can damage their spines easily when jumping off a couch or a bed.

Puppies of this breed prefer to stay clean and so you will not have to bathe them too often. The flat face of the breed does mean that they have difficulty breathing and make quite a noise when doing so. The owners have to become accustomed to some heavy breathing and snorting.

The puppies are actually English in origin, coming from a small area in England called Nottingham. They became very popular in the 1800s when they were well-loved as lapdogs. They were particularly popular with lace-makers.

The laziness of these animals is part of what makes them so easy to take care of. They do not need to be taken out on long, walks every day. They are perfectly happy to be in the home with their owners, often snuggled closely beside them or on their laps. They do not battle with obesity and remain healthy with only a short walk every now and then.

These animals can get very cold very quickly. This is probably why they do not like going outside too much. They love to snuggle next to a human being for warmth or to cuddle up in a blanket. Many owners dress them up in jackets before taking them out into the cold because having only one coat makes them vulnerable.

Some dogs love water and going for swims but these dogs do not like water. They have very short legs and this probably makes it difficult for them to swim. Owners who have swimming pools or live near a body of water need to bear this in mind. These dogs often come with quite a significant price tag because they have to be specially bred and are hard to find.
