How To Choose An Excellent Royal Standard Breeder

By Rebecca Young

Pets are an excellent companion to keep at home for those who find it comfortable. Dogs, for instance, can be trained to serve multiple purposes apart from keeping companion to the owner. If you are interested in rearing one, then you need to ensure you get the right partner from several options provided to you at the market. Therefore, before you decide to acquire one, consider the following traits of an excellent Royal standard breeder.

Check the health status of the pet. You are advised to request health records of the individual animals and check if the pet is prone to contracting diseases frequently. See if any hereditary defects are accompanying your potential pet. You can tell this from the health records of the animal's forefathers to about three generations back.

Similar, disease control strategies such as vaccination, deworming and external parasite control is equally important in telling whether an animal is safe from infection or not. Check the underparts, ears, and tail of the animal to determine if any wounds or parasites are attacking the animals. The owner should let you know of current vaccination and deworming programs subjected to the pet. He should also indicate which drugs should be used and how often.

See if the animal is trained well. The pet should be taught in several aspects such as social and behavioral training. This will enable it to relate well with both you and other domesticated animals present in your home. You should thus avoid acquiring pets which are not adequately trained because they are likely to be dull and hostile.

See if the dog is a pure breed or not. Pure breeds will exhibit certain unique characters similar to those of their parents, however, due to a higher demand on several traits such as coat color and patches some clubs have come up with blended breeds to meet the customer's requirements. You can obtain this information from the breeding records provided to you by the owner.

Check if your potential client is registered. Registration can be proved by the possession of valid licenses and other trading documents. Registered dealers have their operations watched over by the state; this significantly reduces the probability of them engaging in unlawful activities. Therefore dealing with such people guarantees you safety to your resources.

Check the price tag of an animal. Depending on several factors, different dogs are priced differently. For example, a well trained and matured animal will significantly cost you than a young and untrained one. However, you need to be conversant of the prevailing market price by comparing cost from several dealers to make adequate approximations.

Ensure your client offer you a warranty. This is important because some defects might take long before they show up in an animal. In such cases, you might demand compensation which can only be guaranteed through a health insurance policy. If your dealer is unwilling to offer you a guarantee, then it will be right for you to reconsider another client because this is an indication that the dealer is avoiding liability and accountability.
