Now you have decided to have a domestic cat, either for the first time or as a behavior. It is important therefore that you are well guided to make sure that you choose the best young cat that you desire. The following factors will help you in selecting the best North Carolina Ragdoll kittens to domesticate.

Health. Before you consider adopting it, check the health of the cat by assessing the visible symptoms that may be displayed in various body parts. The nose and eyes should not have any discharge. The eyes are supposed to be shiny and transparent. Smooth skin with no lumps, odorless ears, gums, mouth and tongue with no sores and anal that is not discolored. These all demonstrate and determine the health of a healthy cat. If all these correspond, consider consulting a veterinarian for a deeper examination to ensure that the kit is not infected.

Personality determines the behavior of feline and ease of rearing. The feline has playful character and not fearful. Aggressiveness is one of the bad qualities of a cat. The kit is to be playful always if it is not sleeping. Those that hide and become angry when touched are not to consider when looking for a good one to domesticate.

The family on which the cat is reared and born in determines its behavior. An orphan cat lacks role models and teachers for good practices. The family teaches them on the best acceptable practices that make domestication easy. Hence ensure that you pick a cat that has a family.

Early social behavior, the cat that is fit for domestication is the one that has been well socialized. The darling that has grown around the siblings. Consider choosing the one that has been built in an area that has many human beings and house activities. This ensures that the cat is familiar with domestic activities and surroundings.

Parents and siblings. Before adopting any cat, ensure that you have met its siblings and parents if possible. These dictate the character and behavior of a specific cat. The one that has well-behaved siblings will display right behaviors. The nature of their parents to reflect on their characters. Ensure that the parents and siblings of that specific cat have the characters that you desire.

Age. Age determines both the health and the behavior of the feline. The kitty should be allowed enough time with family to learn the favorite characters. Family defines the behavior and the more it stays together with its family members, the more it becomes acquitted to the necessary characteristics. The cat that is at least nine months of age will have finished suckling and hence independent.

Hair length. Is it short, medium or long? The size of the hair determines the rate and amount of shedding. Consider buying one whose color match that of your house furniture to make this process less stressful for you.

Gender is another factor to be considered if you prefer a male or a female cat. Female kittens may require a higher cost in upkeep than the male cats. Female ones may deliver and therefore increasing the number of cats. This requires space and extra care leading to more expenses. Before you choose a cat make sure you bear some of these in your mind to avoid frustrations.
